On Saturday the 1st of October, late in the evening, out of normal office hours, British Sugar contacted us with an emergency spares request. Justine our spares manger picked up the message, that British Sugar required some gaskets, which had failed. We have been supporting British Sugar in their servicing and spares for twenty years, so naturally we wanted to limit their downtime to the bare minimum.
We opened our spares store out of hours, confirmed we had the required gaskets and arranged to have them hand delivered to a British Sugar engineer within 12 hours. This meant their downtown was reduced to an absolute minimum and production could continue with as little disruption as possible.
