Alex Brigginshaw is cycling 400 miles to raise awareness for MND

As a Co-owner and Director of Amarinth, I have taken on the ALL4MND challenge of cycling the 400+ miles from Ipswich to Edinburgh to support funding research and raising awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

I signed up 4 months ago, joining more than 30 other old players from my local rugby club, for the considerable challenge to cycle from Ipswich Rugby Club to Melrose Rugby Club, just south of Edinburgh. That’s over 400 miles which we will complete in under 5 days – covering some 100 miles a day on most of the days!

In preparation, we have been training on average 15-20 hours a week, before and after work, including weekend rides. The ride starts on 12th September from Ipswich Rugby Club finishing on the 16th September at Melrose Rugby Club, along the way taking in Leicester Tigers Stadium, Leeds Rhinos Stadium, and Newcastle Falcons Stadium, all clubs closely associated with Doddie Weir, Rob Burrows and Ed Slater, the rugby players who have inspired us to complete this challenge.

We will be raising money for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and the 4Ed campaign with the aim of reaching donations totalling £400,000. To support us on the ride, donations can be made through our Just Giving Page - ALL4MND.
