Amarinth sign agency agreement with Padmasri Engineers in India & secures $300k order from Larson & Toubro. Amarinth identified GAS Arabian Services as its agent for Saudi Arabia and offer witness testing over the web to support pump delivery
It has been a few months since our last newsletter but a lot has happened in the meantime. Although the overall world economy is still proving sluggish in pulling itself out of recession, at Amarinth we have had our busiest trading period since the company was founded nearly 10 years ago. Of course, that is great for us, but more importantly it indicates that some sectors of engineering and manufacturing are now experiencing a recovery.
The growth in our order book has certainly justified the huge investment we made over the past year in our new assembly and automated test bay facilities. These have not only helped us in securing new orders but most importantly have enabled us to complete the new pumps on-time and on-budget.
In a further expansion of its operations into new countries, Amarinth has signed an agency agreement with Padmasri Engineers in India who will act as a sales representative for Amarinth’s high specification pumps primarily into the Indian oil and gas industry.
The new relationship has already secured business worth $300K (USD) for four API 610 A-Series pumps from Larsen & Toubro, one of the largest and most respected engineering, construction and manufacturing companies in India’s private sector. The application for these pumps is particularly demanding as Larsen & Toubro require a low shear pumping solution, meaning that the pumps must not emulsify the water and oil as it passes through the pump but it must keep the particles separate.
Building on its recent growth in the Middle East utilising a proven business model already in place for counties such as UAE, Qatar and Oman, earlier this year Amarinth identified GAS Arabian Services as its agent for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. GAS Arabian Services has been providing integrated services to the Oil and Gas industry within Saudi Arabia for nearly 20 years and has established long standing, successful relationships with a large client and principal base, including Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Sipchem, KJO and Chevron.
Just weeks after the agreement was signed, the new partnership secured an order from Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) for an API 610 petrochemical pump that will be used for Ethylene Di Acetate transfer.
The order from Larsen & Toubro also brought some new challenges and a revolutionary solution. When it came to testing the pumps, delays waiting for visas to be granted was impacting the critical path and threatening delivery. We therefore came up with an innovative arrangement using a web video camera so that the test process could be witnessed over the internet in the presence of Larsen & Toubro’s designated inspector from Bureau Veritas Inspection agency. The technique proved very successful and popular and enabled the pumps to be tested on-time. Additionally, a significant cost saving was made by removing the need for someone to come over from Mumbai for a week.
Witness testing over the web is now a service we can offer all our clients within our new test facility. The latest version of ISO 9906 (currently out for comment), is used for performance testing acceptance criteria within the API 610 standard. This now specifically includes “Remote witness by the buyer’s representative” under clause 220.127.116.11 and is designed to utilise modern technology and save clients significant costs.
