Amarinth provides API 610 OH2 and VS4 pumps for Petronas Carigali plant in Turkmenistan
Amarinth, a leading company specialising in the design, application and manufacture of centrifugal pumps and associated equipment to the chemical and petrochemical industries has recently completed its first order for Global Process Systems. The scope of supply was for a number of vertical and horizontal API 610 10th Edition Pumps to be installed on the Acid Gas Recovery Unit for the Turkmenistan Block 1 Development Project for Petronas Carigali.
Global Process Systems (GPS) will engineer and fabricate the multiple skidded packages at their facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The associated pump specifications and regulations on the project were numerous and stringent due the high levels of hydrogen sulphide present in the process fluid. This meant that the pumps had to be supplied in super duplex material to avoid corrosion issues and with double mechanical seals and systems to ensure no fluid leakage.
The pumps were required in 28 weeks to fit in with the skid manufacturing programme. Amarinth’s growing reputation in the Middle Eastern Petrochemical industry for the expedient supply of high specification exotic alloy pumps assisted GPS in their selection to award Amarinth with the order to supply this prestigious project.
The current economic climate has meant that export companies involved in large projects have been finding it harder to trade overseas as clients demand extra protection over stage payments. Aware of the criticality of the pumps to the finalisation of the overall skid package layout and design and hence the project programme, Amarinth operated with flexibility to proceed with the purchase order immediately with the assistance of GPS, despite some difficult contractual terms.
Pump general assembly drawings and other critical documentation were delivered within just three weeks of purchase order date. The subsequent expedient documentation submittals combined with its ability to accommodate the significant ongoing end-user design changes meant that Amarinth were able to meet delivery commitments through the various stages of design, manufacture and the comprehensive testing schedule.
Oliver Brigginshaw, Managing Director of Amarinth, added: “We have made huge progress in establishing Amarinth as a company that can deliver the right pumping solutions to major projects on incredibly tight deadlines. We are delighted that GPS chose Amarinth for the Petronas Carigali project. With our bank’s support in developing creative financial instruments for the correct economic climate we look forward to developing ever closer ties with contractors and operators within the Middle East and Central Asia.”
