Amarinth designs bespoke chemical skid support plate for Soku LNG field, Nigeria

At Amarinth, we are committed to providing our customers with the exact solutions they need. We recently demonstrated this agility by designing a bespoke support plate for Renaissance Africa at the Soku LNG field in Nigeria. This project required a creative solution to integrate two chemical injection skid packages into an existing facility without the need for extensive and costly civil works.

The project involved a Biocide Injection Skid and an Oxygen Scavenger Injection Skid. Both skids featured ancillary equipment, including tanks and supply pumps, resulting in a total footprint larger than the facility's two pre-existing concrete plinths.

Furthermore, the installation faced significant logistical and structural constraints:

- Space Restrictions: The equipment had to fit within an existing building under a low, mono-pitch roof, imposing a strict maximum height limit.

- Logistical Hurdles: The final assembly needed to be transportable via standard shipping containers and the Nigerian road network without requiring special permits or dispensations.

To overcome these challenges, Amarinth engineered a bespoke 9.5m x 4.5m support plate. This custom solution was designed to house both chemical injection skid packages while spanning the two existing concrete plinths.

Key engineering highlights of the solution included:

- Structural Integrity: Full FEA (Finite Element Analysis) stress analysis was conducted to ensure the rigidity of the plate as it spanned the plinths and supported the weight of the larger footprint skids.

- Operational Safety: The design incorporated safe walkways between the equipment, allowing operators to easily read instrumentation and perform routine maintenance.

- Modular Design: For ease of transportation, the support plate was designed to be broken down into four components, allowing it to fit into standard shipping containers and navigate local road networks easily.

- Ease of Installation: We provided comprehensive installation instructions, including specific bolt specifications and assembly steps for the skids and associated equipment, for reassembly on-site by the customer.

The design resulted in the seamless integration of the chemical injection skids onto the existing infrastructure. By engineering a bespoke interface between the new equipment and the old foundations, Amarinth ensured the project remained within the dimensions of the standing building and saved the customer from the high costs of additional civil works.
